I recently heard some advice which is most excellent and utterly obvious, in equal measure. The advice is this: if there is a choice between going out and staying in, go out. On this basis, I’ve been busier than usual ever since.
Last night, going to see Tindersticks’ live show of Claire Denis film scores is a perfect example of going out when I might have stayed in. Why? Because I was very kindly given the tickets by a friend who couldn’t make it. And what an evening.
